• There are much better hotels in Cardiff.
• Poorly managed. Beggars allowed to operate in hotel! Expensive parking.

“Unfortunately the standards at this hotel have gone downhill in a big way, since it was taken over by Mercure from Macdonald. The manager was not at all interested in resolving the problems which arose in our visit and the attitudes of some (but not all) of the staff was similar. Furthermore we were amazed that on one occasion we were harassed by a beggar in the foyer of the hotel. This was in full view of several of the staff who did nothing to help. The parking for the hotel is inadequate and very expensive. Little has been done to the entrance to disguise the fact that this was previously an office block.”

“The hotel is right in the city centre which gives you great access to all the amenities. The staff are very friendly and attentive, meals are enjoyable and offered at reasonable prices.”

• The Macdonald Hotel rooms are of such a high quality standard!!
• The Television had a faulty screen and the widescreen did not work.

• Excellent facilities, short walk into town, good food, friendly staff, beautiful views, comfortable room.
• Parking Charge, shortage of staff during busy times.

“The room was well furnished will all we needed. Very short walk into town, the staff were great too. The only down side was we didn't get what we ordered for breakfast to our room. The spa facilities were lovely, the bar was comfortable and friendly. We didn't like having to pay car parking charges though.”

• I loved the views from the hotel suite!
• The pool was slightly cold at times...

“I loved my stay at the hotel. I thought the rooms were excellent size and I loved the modern and unique decor! I liked the pool and spa facilities. The pool can be quite cold at times though. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I loved the views from the hotel suite!”

“The hotel was fantasic, the room was very big and modern, excellent vallue for money and the staff couldnt be more helpful.

We were really surprised at how nice this hotel was, the bathroom had a seperate shower and bath, which was nice. My partner had a bad headache in the evening but it was no trouble for one of the reception staff to go and get some tablets for him from the shop.
Would def stay again!! Should be a 5 star (although the price would go up!)”

• very well presented room with nice view of the city
• no complementary chocolates like advertised. no salt with breakfast. cracked glass at breakfast. breackfast 3/4 hr late.

“The hotel was very nice but the small issues mentioned above didnt match up to the what I expected from such a well presented hotel. This I do believe to be a one off encounter for unforseen reasons and this hotel is still more than worthy of my recomendation”

“there was a mix up with the time of booking out of the room as i thought i had read on the internet that it was 12.00 midday,it would be better to have a midday checkout.we really enjoyed our stay .”

• Well maintained,elegantly furnished comfortable, clean rooms & bathrooms. Great views of Cardiff City.
• The swimming pool could do with some extra lighting along the floor to guide swimmers.

• The hotel was brilliant...staff very friendly and it was clean. Will most certainly stay there again on a trip to Cardiff
• I would suggest more towels

• A good hotel.
• There were too few croissants at breakfast, ie none for us, the breakfast service was overall slow.

“The building is not so good-looking as in the picture, I have to say -but you know that and, of course, you are salespeople....
Anyway, it was a nice hotel and everything well.”

• The room was well designed and roomy and the views were fantastic.
• Problems in the kitchen meant that food was not ready and we had to ask for certain items, i.e. egg, sausage, black pudding, etc. but the chef was pleasant in difficult circumstances. Waiting on staff were more reserved.

“A very pleasant stay marred only by technical issues in the kitchen. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Would like to stay again but the price is a little on the high side for us due to having to book a Club room to accommodate our 15 year old son.”

“An excellent, clean modern hotel. Rooms are well sized. Can't comment on the restaurant as I was eating out, but the bar was well stocked and bar staff knowledgeable. Comfortable environment.”

• Quality, class, cleanliness, service and location were all first class.
• TV picture quality was poor for some channels.

“A great experience, offered very high standard accommodation and service for a superb value. Extra services were a little expensive but well worth the money due to their high standard.
The room was extremely clean, especially the bathroom which could easily be mistaken to be new. All features in the room were of high quality, these included the furniture, TV, mini bar and the sound system that also supplied music in the bathroom.
The staffs were very welcoming and polite, and treated myself as a customer with good respect.

I highly recommend the hotel for anyone seeking a satisfying break. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and look forward to staying at the Macdonald Holland House hotel again soon.”

• Lovely modern room. Very Clean. Very comfortable bed. Great atmosphere feeling. Very relaxing
• The spa was fully booked, however I should have phoned ahead

“Information about the Spa facility and level of use.
The restaurant and food was fantastic, however the atmosphere in the breakfast room (additional room) was lacking something. I felt as if I were in a canteen. The restaurant itself was wonderful. We met up with friends who ate in there after our breakfast and it was much more pleaseing. However we will be back.”

• Two lamp bulbs needed to be replaced in the room

“Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Staff were very professional and friendly and the food was excellent. The room had a wonderful view and the facilities were very good (although the widescreen TV did have a green spot!)”
