“Unfortunately the standards at this hotel have gone downhill in a big way, since it was taken over by Mercure from Macdonald. The manager was not at all interested in resolving the problems which arose in our visit and the attitudes of some (but not all) of the staff was similar. Furthermore we were amazed that on one occasion we were harassed by a beggar in the foyer of the hotel. This was in full view of several of the staff who did nothing to help. The parking for the hotel is inadequate and very expensive. Little has been done to the entrance to disguise the fact that this was previously an office block.”

“The hotel is right in the city centre which gives you great access to all the amenities. The staff are very friendly and attentive, meals are enjoyable and offered at reasonable prices.”

“The room was well furnished will all we needed. Very short walk into town, the staff were great too. The only down side was we didn't get what we ordered for breakfast to our room. The spa facilities were lovely, the bar was comfortable and friendly. We didn't like having to pay car parking charges though.”

“I loved my stay at the hotel. I thought the rooms were excellent size and I loved the modern and unique decor! I liked the pool and spa facilities. The pool can be quite cold at times though. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I loved the views from the hotel suite!”

“The hotel was fantasic, the room was very big and modern, excellent vallue for money and the staff couldnt be more helpful.
We were really surprised at how nice this hotel was, the bathroom had a seperate shower and bath, which was nice. My partner had a bad headache in the evening but it was no trouble for one of the reception staff to go and get some tablets for him from the shop.
Would def stay again!! Should be a 5 star (although the price would go up!)”

“A very pleasant stay marred only by technical issues in the kitchen. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Would like to stay again but the price is a little on the high side for us due to having to book a Club room to accommodate our 15 year old son.”

“An excellent, clean modern hotel. Rooms are well sized. Can't comment on the restaurant as I was eating out, but the bar was well stocked and bar staff knowledgeable. Comfortable environment.”

“A great experience, offered very high standard accommodation and service for a superb value. Extra services were a little expensive but well worth the money due to their high standard.
The room was extremely clean, especially the bathroom which could easily be mistaken to be new. All features in the room were of high quality, these included the furniture, TV, mini bar and the sound system that also supplied music in the bathroom.
The staffs were very welcoming and polite, and treated myself as a customer with good respect.
I highly recommend the hotel for anyone seeking a satisfying break. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and look forward to staying at the Macdonald Holland House hotel again soon.”

“Information about the Spa facility and level of use.
The restaurant and food was fantastic, however the atmosphere in the breakfast room (additional room) was lacking something. I felt as if I were in a canteen. The restaurant itself was wonderful. We met up with friends who ate in there after our breakfast and it was much more pleaseing. However we will be back.”

“Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Staff were very professional and friendly and the food was excellent. The room had a wonderful view and the facilities were very good (although the widescreen TV did have a green spot!)”
