BrühlBrühl, Leipzig, GermanyTel: +49 341 710 4260 In bygone days, this street was the center of commercial activity in Leipzig. Particularly popular with fur traders, Brühl became a kind of outdoor market, with merchants from all over the region selling a wide variety of goods. As trade in the area took off, the merchants became wealthier and erected dozens of magnificent buildings here. Unfortunately, the majority of these buildings were destroyed during World War II, with the Romanus-Haus being the sole testament of this legacy left standing today. The street also used to contain lodgings for traveling merchants, which is why it is still referred to as Herbergsviertel - or "hotel quarter".
